Our computer crashed last week. I had to reinstall XP
(upgrade version computer came with ME)I had to reinstall
camera (Kodak DX 3600 with dock). The Kodak software
works great. I'm able to view photos that are stored on
computer. But computer does not detect camera so I can't
get any photos from camera. Computer is also reporting
that that the IEEE 1394 firewire card is not installed
and that I can't installed it since drivers are missing.
I talked to Dell and I was told that their resource cd
that came with computer won't help since everything on
that cd is for ME. Where can I get drivers for IEEE 1394
firewire card (compatible with XP)? Will this solve my
problem with camera?

Go to Kodak home page, support, get the drivers/software
for xp.Did you reinstall ME then upgrade,or perform a
clean install of xp by itself. You can also go to windows
update see if it offers the needed drivers/software,or
select,personalize update,then chk the box,show catalog,
open catalog update for xp,locate kodak.

SFAIK, the Kodak 3600 is USB and not 1394. (You must have some other device
using this port, but the camera isn't.)

The problem that may lie with your camera in that the Kodak PTP driver
solution that installed over the XP inbox PTP solution. If you disconnected
the camera from your computer and uninstalled the Kodak software, reboot -
then just plug your Kodak camera into the computer after you are logged on.
Does the camera show up in the Scanner & Camera Wizard (from START | All
Programs, and goto Accessories)?

If it doesn't, there is something wrong with the connection.(Don't use a hub
device - plug the camera directly into your computer, check your cables,
etc.)
If it does, then the camera connection is fine.

Next, you'll want to follow the instructions Kodak offers on how to install
your camera.

good luck!
