After XP SP2 upgrade, cannot get online

After installing the upgrade I cannot get into the internet with my laptop,
whether by dialup, wireless adapter or direct cable modem access. I've tried
everything and have read all the support articles and after three days I am
getting desperate. Should I uninstall the Service Pack 2 or is there a
simple solution? I am running Windows XP Home Edition version 2002(with) SP2
, Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.00GHz. 1.99 GHz, 512 MB of RAM. I had no problems prior
to installing the service pack.

At first read "How to Troubleshoot Possible Causes of Internet
Connection Problems" (http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=314095) and
"Description of the Windows Firewall feature in Windows XP Service
Pack 2" (http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=843090).
You could uninstall the SP and see if this helps, just to make sure
that this is really a problem with the SP. But you should reinstall
the SP afterwards for security reasons.

Please check Event Viewer for Warning / Error Report in the System log
over the last 2 days and post copies.

You can access Event Viewer by selecting Start, Administrative Tools, and
Event Viewer. When researching the meaning of the error, information
regarding Event ID, Source and Description are important.

HOW TO: View and Manage Event Logs in Event Viewer in Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;308427&sd=tech

Part of the Description of the error will include a link, which you should
double click for further information. You can copy using copy and paste.
Often the link will, however, say there is no further information.
http://go.microsoft.com/fw.link/events.asp
(Please note the hyperlink above is for illustration purposes only)

A tip for posting copies of Error Reports! Run Event Viewer and double click
on the error you want to copy. In the window, which appears is a button
resembling two pages. Double click the button and close Event Viewer. Now
start your message (email) and do a paste into the body of the message. This
will paste the info from the Event Viewer Error Report complete with links
into the message. Make sure this is the first paste after exiting from Event
Viewer.

Hope this helps.

The error logs are quite long. Could you suggest more specifically what I
should post? Thank you for your time. I am still struggling with this. I
tried the Microsoft site but could not get any specific answers. I still
have no internet access from my laptop.

I do not need the logs just individual reports. No Information Reports,
only Warning / Error Reports.Start with just Reports during a single
period of five minutes when the machine was last booted. If you have
identical copies just indicate which repeat.
