After XP SP2, firewire keeps dropping devices, any ideas?

Hi,

Ever since I installed XP SP2, my external Firewire HD and camcorder
connect/disconnect endlessly. If just one is plugged in, all is well.
Before SP2, I could do this with no problem having them both hooked up. When
I try to capture video from my cam while the external hard drive is plugged
in, it sometimes will capture 5, maybe 20 minutes of video, then disconnects
the hard disk randomly. This happens in Microsoft movie maker, and also in
Avid Xpress Pro. It also does it if I have my external disk and an ADS Pyro
analog/dv converter box hooked up to firewire. If I uninstall SP2, things go
back to normal, but all my programs need SP2 now like Adobe Encore etc.

Please help!

I have an MSI Neo2 mother board with onboard Firewire. Each firewire device
is plugged into a different port and not daisychained.

Have you checked the Firewire device manufacturer's web site for a driver
update?

I did check with MSI and they just suggested a download of the latest chipset
drivers. The only one even close that they had was one for the Ethernet
adapter. My firewire enclosure is an off brand so there wouldn't be anything
for that in the way of a special driver.

In Device Manager, click on the Firewire listing and find out who makes
the Firewire Controller, e.g., Texas Instruments, Intel, Adaptec, etc.
Get the updated drivers from the Firewire chipmaker's site.
