after XP SP2 can't login

The problem is that I think XP SP2 does not allow for null
password so I can't login, I can use recovery console to
get to the disk but what can I do to add a password to the

Windows XP SP2 does allow null passwords, as I can log in normaly and without
any problems.

Hi

How far does your PC boot? If you can get to the Welcome screen, try
pressing Ctrl-Alt-Del twice to access the Administrator's Account.

I can get to the login screen and do the Ctrl-Alt-Del but
it still asks for a login & password.
I don't know if it's a null password or what or if
something is corrupted, after installing SP2 when you
click on a login (which has no password) it just refreshes
the screen and does nothing.
Now I renamed system32/SAM as seen on some posts and I get
an error to re-boot to safe mode.
I can get into safe mode, safe mode prompt or anything, I
thought safe mode did not ask for passwords (I am used to
windows 2000)

Can I mount the drive on another XP system and access it?
