After successful WinXP SP2 install - Unusual appearance of the tasbar running programs buttons

I successfully installed the Windows XP SP2 RTM a few days ago. The only
unexpected change I experienced was the appearance of the running program
buttons in the taskbar. Before the installation these buttons were
rectangular boxes of varying width depending on the number of them. Now the
buttons are small rectangular boxes of fixed width that display the running
program's icon and the first letter of the program's name.

Has anyone seen this change? How can I get the program buttons in the
taskbar to display as before?

If you right click the taskbar, left click properties, is the: Group similar taskbar
buttons option selected? Is the taskbar locked?
