After SP2, lost printers and connections

I installed SP2 using AU and when it rebooted, I lost my printers and
network connections.

In fact, I couldn't install a printer (no Add Printer under Settings menu)
and when I used the Add Printer under the Open Printers under the File menu,
it simply said I couldn't add one.

I couldn't add a connection (no New Connection Wizard under Settings menu)
and when I used New Connections under the Open Network Connections under the
File menu, after the last prompt, I got a message that I didn't have enough
memory or not enough disk space.

So I had to do a system restore to go prior to SP2. I also had to turn off
AU for the time being.

Dell's support told me they've had cases like this but didn't know when/if
MS would fix it.

Any knowledge of this out there? Somehow, SP2 made radical damage to my
settings and normal safe functions were blocked.

Did you prepare your Computer prior to XP2 install. I read to unplug printer
and Internet Connection prior to installing XP2 and all of your start up
applications in misconfig. Empty all trash bin, temporary internet files,
disc cleanup, defrag etc. I prepared my Computer step by step and did my
homework and everything works great.
