After removing Sasser System keeps rebooting

I have tried everything from stopping all services from recovery console, just in case one was corrupt, but to no avail. I have even restored the backed up registry but the system continues to reboot. It reboots at the time when it reaches the logon screen. One peculiar thing is that eventhough it sees the installation with the recovery console, and it logs on to it, using the fast recovery option, it does not find the installation.
What can I do? I am desperate.
 
I do not think that the patch has been applied. I can not get into Windows to apply it. I have however put the disk as secondary in another PC and scanned it for viruses and found nothink. I have also run the sasser cleaner on it.
