Say some more.

I've got Windows Defender active and working on two Windows 2000 servers
which are providing RAS and PPTP VPN connections.

Both are working normally.

Questions? On the workstations you are trying to reach behind this
server--any other changes lately--Windows OneCare Live beta, for example,
has a firewall that turns off ping responses by default.

Aside from pings, does remote access work? What else can you test?

I tend to do Remote Desktop Connection over a VPN connection--can you
connect that to a workstation? If not by name, can you connect by IP
address?
