after installing theme winxp pro goes black and unusable

Hi,
I do not have any customisation programs installed on my Windows XP pro and
as an Idiot I installed one of the downloaded themes and selected it as the
theme in windows. Part of the theme changed such as the cursor and
colours(maybe). The next thing I did was to select my old - Windows Classic
theme which turned all the previous grey panels to black and so is the
text. The only things that I can see on my desktop are the icons so there
is no way I can see what I am doing in order to try to change the theme. I
tried rebooting but when I went back into windows the panels and text are
still black. I tried going into safe mode and the screen is still black.
I have my PC set to log in directly to my username and as such I do not know
how to just log out and log in as Administrator in the hope that whatever
settings have been applied to my user would have not affected.
I dual boot with Linux so I can access the windows drive but not sure if
there is anything I can edit to make the problem go away.
Please help get windows working as I am working on an Intranet website for
work(asp) and can only do it in windows.

If Kelly's suggestion doesn't work, you could try the following:

In Linux, create a one-line batch file (text file with a .bat extension) with the following command:

C:\WINDOWS\Resources\Themes\Luna\luna.msstyles

Place the batch file in your startup directory (C:\Documents and Settings\Keith\Start Menu\Programs\Startup)

Then when you log in, the display properties dialog will be launched with the default XP style selected. Pressing <Enter> should apply it and you should be back in business.
