After install update XP won't boot

The last few times that my computer did an auto update at shut down I was
not able to boot back up. It freezes at the Windows XP page. It will start in
safe mode, I tried last known best and still no luck only in safe mode. This
time I can't get it to work. Any thoughts?

I do have a home edition cd but I had to send in the unit to fix the mother
board and it came back with media edition on it. Can I use the home edition
CD to repair if need be?

Contact the place you sent it to originally, and get the correct CD back.
