After copy of setup files from CD, XP will not load

Hello,

I just used WipeDrive to completely clean my hard drive from my home PC, and
have been attempting to load XP Home Edition. After the initial setup files
load the while still in the blue screen I get a message that says: "Setup
could not read the CD you inserted, or the CD is not valid Windows CD".
This is odd, since it just got done loading the kernel files, drivers, etc.
I've rebooted numerous times, I've ejected / re-inserted the install CD,
etc., etc., all to no avail.

Help! Any suggestions?

Wash the cd with warm water and liquid soap, dry lightly with a cotton cloth
in a circular
motion and try again. This has worked for me in the past.
Good Luck.

Mike,

After cleaning the CD, no change. I noticed after pressing F8 to accept
the license, it appears after that, the PC does not attempt to read the CD
drive again. After pressing <enter> to continue loading Windows, it says
"Please wait" in the status bar, but the read light on the CD device does not
come on, nor do I hear anything mechanically that gives the impression a read
is being attempted.

Do you have any other suggestions? Thanks for your time.
