I have a Toshiba Sattelite Pro M70 laptop
Windows Vista
Intel 1.86 HGz
2 GB RAM
Mobility Radeon X700 (MS WDDM)
Theme is Vista
Color Scheme is set to Aero
Colors Highest 32 bit
Still I can't see Aero
What is wrong?

By any chance are you using azureus or another program that uses java?

I had the same problem when java loaded and upgraded to the new version and
now all is well.

I can provide a link to the update if you need it. I just don't have time
right now to hoke about for it.

Is it activated? You can verify this by going to Control Panel, System, and
looking under Windows activation.

After Vista's 30 day activation window, it will turn off Aero, the ability
to print, and some other necessary functions until it has been successfully
activated by either a key or a KMS.

I heard that if a program that is incompatible with Aero runs, Windows will
revert to the 'Basic' theme - i.e. without the Aero effects - while said
program is loaded.

Verify Windows Aero is selected as the color scheme...

Right click on the desktop
Select Personalize
Click on Window Color and Appearance
Click on Open classic appearance properites for more color options
Is Windows Aero selected as the color scheme?

Which version of the X700 does your laptop have. There are basically three,
one that uses shared ram, one that has 64mb, and the third has 128mb of
dedicated ram. Also look to ATI or Toshiba for a real video driver, not the
built in MS drivers.

On the Window Color and Appearance page... is the Enable Transparency
checkbox checked?

I'm running Vista Ultimate on a laptop with 512MB RAM and 64MB video RAM and
Aero's working here.
