Three days ago I turned on my computer and a screen informed me that my
Windows Vista was not "genuine" and was counterfeited.
It had me re-enter by Windows Product Key number, which I did. Now, ever
since then, Windows Aero doesn't work... when I try to turn the Aero
appearance setting on, I get an error message that says: "The visual styles
could not be applied."
I tried using System Restore to roll my computer back a few days (I was
thinking maybe the recent Windows Updates did something), but my computer
can't do a proper Restore now either. I select a restore date, the computer
restarts, and then it comes back on with an error saying: "System Restore did
not complete successfully. An unspecified error occurred during System
Restore."
I've already gone to the Windows Genuine Advantage support forums, and they
say it's not related to the Vista Validation issue, but I still think it is.
Any ideas?
I really want to get my Vista working properly again... please help! Thanks.
