Need help computer has been infected with adware files

Download the free spy/adware find program Spybot Search&
Destroy at http://security.kolla.de/ . For popups
download the free popup stopper at www.panicware.com.
Make sure you have a good firewall and is always
activated.

To delete adware, try AdAware:

and/or Spybot Search and Destroy:

http://www.safer-networking.org/

Both are free (and available in English and other languages).

The popups may not be connected with adware, though. Turn on your XP
firewall to block popups generates using Windows Messenging. (This is quite
different from MSN Messenger; it's a means for system administrators to send
messenges to machines on a network. Spammers subvert it.)
