Hello,
I would like to know how can i incrase my disk space in the
windows 2000 with the new hard disk?
Here the situtation, servers is running out of space and need more space to
save files. Can i just increase the disk space with the new hard drive just
to expend thet volume of the primary C : hard disk. if the be possible that
i don't want to create new disc drive letter and just have the extra space in
the primary C: dirve.
Please advice.

Thanks,
Sam

If c: contains the boot/system of the OS you can not expand c: to another
partition or disk. The OS won't let you.

Consider instead either using Ghost or other cloning software to "clone" to
a larger disk. These softwares will allow you to expand the original image
into the larger space. Some don't work with dynamic disks. Make sure the
version you get supports Server not just workstation or it won't work at all.

First of all use Disk Cleanup to get rid of all temp and superfluous
files; (right click on My computer/Properties). Assuming you have a NTFS
formatted drive, you can compress any file or folder contents, by right
clicking on its properties, selecting General tab, then Advanced button.
You can still view or operate system/document files when they are
compressed.

Another thing you can do, if you don`t want to expand the C: drive is
format the disk and assign it other letter (let`s name it E: ) ( I know
you said you didn`t want a new letter) , there you can redirect the
pagefile (some 500 Mb at least), your eventlogs, and performance
montior if your are running some, also, If you have some program
instaled on it, you can redirect the data files to the other disk.

By the way, what`s the size of this disk ?
regards,

Alfonso
