Advice on hard drive setup

L

Lori Kuiper

I have a Western Digital 120gb hard drive connected to SATA 1 using the
Serielle converter for NF7-S v2.0 MB.

When I put the Western Digital Data Lifeguard Tools CD in the drive the
option comes up to set up hard drive & install the data lifeguard tools
diagnostic. I know that the CD is only required to be used if the hard
drive is greater then 137gb (not sure about the exact size).

Would it hurt to go ahead and run the setup program & install the tools
diagnostic? The drive was setup by XP Professional CD. I am not sure if
the converter that the drive is attached to is going to cause a problem.

Any info would be appreciated!

Ifg you are not familiar with setting up a SATA drive or evn an IDE HDD, then it is highly recommended to use the step by step tools.

You can be assured that they are designed to get the SATA Drive working in just the way you want and with all the partitions and formatting as you want.

If you use Windows to set up the drive you are limited to NTFS for format and only have limited control on partitioning.
