There is no Advanced Search option in Outlook. Do you mean Instant Search,
Advanced Find or the Query Builder?
When you don't have WDS installed the Query Builder is not available to you.
You can still use Instant Search or Advanced Find (CTRL+SHIFT+F).

Since you don't have WDS installed anymore, you don't have the Indexing
Options either.

Of course, if you'd rather fix your WDS issues with Outlook, you can ask
that here as well. How to fix indexing issues is described here;

Hi thanks for your help.

My problem is related to "Query Builder" in the "Instant Search Pane"
the expanded section of the "Query Builder" is greyed out OR not
accessible.

I was pretty sure that this was available before I installed WDS. Are
you 100% sure that the expanded section of the "Query Builder" is
blanked out unless you install WDS?

Thanks
Dominic

Thanks you were right.

I did a new install on XP machine and it was greyed out again.

The thing is I am on a vista machine and apparently it has desktop
search installed default.

But the desktop toolbar is missing?

Anyhow I found that desktop search was annoying. I may have to
reconsider.

Thanks again
Dominic

Yes, Vista has indexing built in and is based on Windows Desktop Search but
without the toolbars as Vista already exposes the search boxes in the Start
Menu and in Explorer folders.

Yes, I'm sure.
