advanced printing on HP PSC 1210

Hello!
I've seen on HP DeskJet option that two pages are printed on one page,
it saves paper and ink, when fonts are big. I'd like to do so with my HP
PSC 1210, but I don't see such option :-(
I didn't know about it befor I bought it, but I needed also scanner, so
it was an optimal choice, I suppose, but I would like to use more
advanced options also. I think it's not printer but a driver, because
driver could do such things as changing documents in buffer so that two
or more pages fit on one. Documents I'm usually printing are PDF, and
I've seen one document which was formated so that there were 4 pages
(slides from lecture) on one. Maybe there's a software reader which can
change format of PDF and than print it?

I will be grateful for any hints.

On my XP system, it's (From any program)
File -> Print -> Properties -> Layout -> Pages per Sheet

Yes, that's just what I DON'T have :-( If that's no printer-hardware
function, it's driver, but PSC series needs specifis drivers, as far as
I know...
