Advanced Appearance issue

J

Jeff

I have an XP Home SP2 computer that is having some display issues. The menu
bar, scroll bar, icon spacing, etc. is all completely out of whack and
nothing appears as it normally should. I went into display settings, and
changed the them to Windows Classic, and the theme changed, but the sizes of
the above mentioned items did not. I changed the theme to XP, and still no
change. What I did next, was go to the Advanced Appearance settings under
the Advanced tab inside of Display Properties. I noticed, that compared to
my other XP machine, the numbers were all off. I went thru line by line and
set them to how my other machine is set (Icon spacing (horizontal) for
example to 43) and it is starting to look like normal again. However, there
is a few settings I am having problems with. For example, on my machine that
appears normal, the Palette Title has a size of 15 with its font set at
Tahoma size 8. On the mahince I am having problems with, I can set the font
to Tahoma size 8, but I cannot get the Palette Title to go any lower than
size 19. There are a few other entries in this list that will not go below
19 either. Any suggestions on how to fix this annoying display problem? My
resolution is set to 1024x768. Thanks!

Hello Jeff
See if this information helps

)
When you make changes, the theme shown on the Theme tab changes to Modified
Theme. Just go back to the Theme tab and select the original theme. Once
you've made changes you like, but sure to got back to the Themes tab and
save it. That way you don't have to start from scratch if things get too out
of whack.

Hi Jeff,

Start/Run/Regedit

Navigate to: Current User/Control Panel/Desktop/WindowMetrics

Export this subkey from the "normal" machine and import. Verify that both
systems are XP and running the same screen resolution.
