ADSL Connection problem

Hi,

I have this problem that's been bugging me for a while now.

I have an ADSL connection over a FreeBSD server.
The path is simmilar to this: ADSL -> FreeBSD server -> Server Access Point
-> Home Access Point -> Router -> My PC.
After the XP start up, the connection is fine. Then, after a while, the
connection dies (waiting for site.com).
Hints: I'm using a static IP, after turning off the firewall it seems like
the connection is fine...

Could someone PLS explain an possible cause or even better, an solution for
this?

Please descibe in more details on why the router is behind ther server
and the two access points?

The server is a unified solution for download( with active mlDonkey, supports
allmost every p2p network). The access points are the only way to beat the
300 m distance, and the router was the simplest way to share my connection at
home (I have 2 PC's at home, therefore the router is behind the server) BTW,
if it's any help, I'm sharing the ADSL connection.

Your set up might not be correct. The set up seems to have multiple
palces where the connection can be dropped.

One possible network layout could be:

DSL modem -- Router -- Server on router's DMZ port
\------ Access points ----- PCs
