.adp vs .mdb

What is a Microsoft Access project (.adp) as compared to a Microsoft Access
database (.mdb)?

Where would you use an adp rather than a mdb?

Thanks,
Mich

According to Access Help:

A Microsoft Access project (.adp) is an Access data file that provides
efficient, native-mode access to a Microsoft SQL Server database through the
OLE DB component architecture.

There is a great deal of additional information on Access Projects available
in the Help file. Just open Access Help and in the Answer Wizard, search
on: adp

ADP gets rid of the Jet engine and relies entirely on SQL Server for data
processing, which is generally faster. You lose the ability to have local
tables though.

The learning curve to work with ADPs is steep, but not impossible. Do not
use Acces 2000 for ADP. Too manybugs.
