Do you have Acrobat Reader installed or the whole Acrobat program?

The reader is a free download and is up to version 6 now. I just
installed this the other day and it looks good. Version 5 and up of the
reader is recommended for use with Windows XP.

You didn't mention what the warning is that you are seeing on your
screen but unless you have the paid version of that program (more
features), I can't think of any reason of why you should not proceed
with the uninstall. If the warning is just "are you sure?" then
definitely, yes - you can proceed with the uninstall.
