Adobe Acrobat Reader 5.0 or higher

I'm trying to install a plug-in that I need for school...its called fileopen - it allows me to view material that I need for class. It seems to install correctly - it loads and it shows up in the plug-in folder within Adobe. However, when I try to view the material it acts like I didn't install it but I see there. Can someone help with this....
