ADMT v3 global group migration/copy

Guest

We would like to migrate(copy) several global groups with sid history from a
source win2k3 domain intraforest to a win2k3 domain. When we attempt to
configure admt the option for sid history is checked but grayed out. Once the
migration is completed it moves the global group and converts the group from
global to universal automatically....why does this happen?....we just want to
copy groups(not move) from win2k/win2k3 to win2k3 domains and keep them as
global groups and preserving the original global group in the source
domain...any ideas?

Thanks

when doing an INTRA forest migration, this is default behavior for ADMT.
INTRA forest migration with ADMT moves the objects and INTER forest
migration COPIES the objects.

ADMT MOVES the object because it retains its GUID, and no object in AD can
have the same GUID

for what you want to do, really copy during an intraforest migration you
would need to buy third party tooling. This tooling COPIES the object by
creating a NEW object with its own GUID
