Administrator user

Hi all ~ after creating several users on my WinXP Pro machine, the
'Administrator' user disappears from the login screen. How can I login as
Administrator?

Thanks

Hi Tim,

This would indicate that a user account was never created, and the normally hidden account
named Administrator was being used as a day to day account. In this case when a new
account is created the account named Administrator is hidden, as it should be, except for
in Safe Mode. What you should do now is create a new Admin account and name it what you
like. Then start the new Admin account and move the data stored in the hidden account to
the newly created account.
You may need to use Safe Mode, log on as Administrator account and 'Take Ownership' of the
files.

To boot into Safe Mode, Restart the system, hitting F8 as BIOS info goes to black to get
the Menu and select Save Mode.

For XP Pro, press CTRL-ALT-DEL twice at the Welcome Screen, with no users logged on. You'll get the old Windows 2000 style logon dialog. Enter Administrator and the password for that account, if any.

To enable the Administrator account on the new Windows XP logon screen, visit my web site, www.dougknox.com and go to the Windows XP section. Follow the link for Enable Administrator Account ......

This small VB Script will make the registry change necessary for the Administrator account to be available on the Welcome Screen.
