I built 3 users profiles, myself, my wife, and "administrator"...then I
locked the files for Administrator. Now the user login does NOT display
"Administrator" as a sign-in option on the panel anymore.
files locked! can't sign in to account! help!
The built-in administrator account is hidden by default when a User with
admin rights is created. Depending on your version of XP (which you don't
say), in Home, boot into Safe mode. In Pro, at the welcome screen, press
Ctl-Alt-Del twice, when a W2K style log-in box will appear. Type in
"administrator" (without the quotes) and leave the password blank unless you
know otherwise.
By the way, it is NOT good practice to use the built-in administrator
account on a daily basis. It is your ONLY way in to the machine (short of a
repair install) should any or all of your User accounts go belly-up. Create
a User account with Admin rights for daily use.
