Administrator login

Help Me!!!!
I bought a new scanner but the software won't install. It
says I must be logged on as the Administrator. How do I
do it?

There is no administrator user setup right now. I am
listed as the administrator.

What do I do?

Please, please, please help me.

If you are listed as the administrator, in other words, your user account,
the account that you use to log on is designated as administrator, that's
all you should need. If that is the case and you can't get the software
installed, you need to contact the scanner manufacture's tech support and/or
visit the manufacturer's website. Also, they may have updated software and
drivers at their website. Don't assume because the device is brand new that
it included the latest drivers. You have no idea how long it sat on the
retailer's shelf or in some warehouse before being sold.

I'm having the same problem. I've seen a solution, do
cntl-alt-del twice at the logon screen and get a Win2000
type screen where you can enter a user name and password.
But it doesn't work for me. Hope it does for you.

Admin in this case is not a login account it refers to the group permissions your account is given. If you open control panel and
select user accounts your account should have the permissions group "computer administrator" shown after the login name. If that is
correctly set then the software should allow you to install it.

You could try the installation from safe mode as system owner but frankly it sounds like the venders software is flawed and not
picking up your account privs correctly (unless you've changed them using the policy editor). Have you checked the venders web site
for an FAQ telling you about the problem and how to go about fixing it?
