Administrator log-in

Apparently I am not logged on to my laptop as the administrator(I can't alter
the programs starting when I boot up). How can I check this?

Home or Pro?

Home requires you to boot into Safe Mode.

Pro - at the log-in screen do a CTRL-ALT-DEL twice and log-in as
Administrator. (You do remember the password?)
