Administrator Access

I am having a problem installing and using the nero 7 appllication of an
external DVD rewriter. The computer will not let me install it as it says i
need to see my administrator as access is restricted.
My question is how do i log on as the administrator? on the start up page
there are only two users, myself and my girlfriend. No mention of
administrator. As we are the only people who use this computer how do we get
access to be an administrator to enable us to install this program. Some
simple advice would be greatly appreciated.

You may need to set your accounts so that they are Administrator accounts.
To do that restart your computer and as the computer is restarting
repeatedly tap the F8 key. You should arrive at a black screen with several
boot options. Select the one that says Safe Mode using the up arrow keys and
the enter key. You will boot to a log on screen that will show an
Administrator account as well as the other accounts. Select the
Administrator account. If you have XP Home version the Administrator account
will not have a password. Safe Mode gives basic functionality to the system.
You will loss your graphics settings but will arrive at the Desktop. Once
there go to Start->Control Panel->User Accounts. Select your accounts and
change them to Administrator. Ok out and reboot normally. You might also
want to check the www.nero.com site forums for more help.

Note: There is a hidden 'Administrator' account (the account name is:
Administrator) in Windows.
The default password for this hidden account is normally blank (none).

For XP Home users:
Boot the computer into Safe Mode
Do this by pressing the F8 key (several times) after the Power On Self Test
is finished, until the Start menu appears.
This will get you to the correct menu window.
Once in Safe Mode, you will see the normally hidden Administrator account
and any other accounts.
(Note: Accounts are displayed alphabetically).
Use the mouse or Up/down arrow keys to highlight the 'Administrator'
account.
The default password is a blank (no password required).

For XP Pro users:
You do not need to go into Safe Mode.
At the Welcome Screen, do/press the Ctrl-Alt-Del keys twice to display the
Windows logon box.
Type in "Administrator" (without the quotes), by default the password is
blank, no password need be entered.

Hi thanks for your help. i was able to log on as an administrator but when i
clicked on user groups it would not open and it said
"windows can not find C:\Windows\system32\rundll32.exe" Make sure you typed
the name correctly and then try again. To search for a file, click the start
button and then click search.

This also happened when i tried to click on other icons in the control panel.
Any ideas?
Thanks again
