administrator issue

we employed somebody to set up a small system for our car
dealership, he also set himself up as the systems
administrator. we cannot install new programs nor can we
update existing ones. needless to say this creep
disappeared without leaving us any info on how to remove
his work. anybody out there have any ideas??

What are the operating system versions involved ?
With or without server? As a domain ?
If only XP have you tried logging in as Administrator
with either a blank password (or the password the
person "forgot" to tell you about)?
Worse come to worse, if you do not have a domain
there are tools that will allow you to zap the pwd.
