Administrator can't delete files

Lee Beck

I set up my Vista installation so that I am administrator with all
priviledges. I now have installed an old HDD and want to remove the Windows
folder. Vista says that I don't have access.

I have checked the attributes and nothing is read only. I also have tried
the DOS prompt and DEL *.*

How do I remove the folder??

Try to first take ownership of the file as describes here:-

then try deleting again

Lots of help on that site - thanks.

But there still is one stubborn file that I can't delete. I took ownership
in Vista 32 and got the message "access denied." So I tried in DOS and got
the following cut/paste:

Microsoft Windows [Version 6.0.6001]
Copyright (c) 2006 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved.

C:\Windows\system32>takeown /f P:\windows\system32\macromed\flash\flash6.ocx

SUCCESS: The file (or folder):
"P:\windows\system32\macromed\flash\flash6.ocx" n
ow owned by user "Lee-PC\Lee".

C:\Windows\system32> del P:\windows\system32\macromed\flash\flash6.ocx
P:\windows\system32\macromed\flash\Flash6.ocx
Access is denied.

C:\Windows\system32>
