Administrator account

Okay, basically everytime I log into my admin account, things load but it
always freezes causing me to restart. The only way I can access the internet
or any of my shared files is on my guest account. (Thank God I have one). I
need to be able to get on to my admin acount so I can download and do
whatever else so does anyone know the problem? I also have no idea as to if I
need to reformat or how to do so. I'm really in the dark here and I need
help. If anyone has any ideas please email me at (e-mail address removed) or
I'll check back here. Thank you so much

When does it freeze?? Right away or after you run some application, or after
a certain period of time? Try booting into Safe Mode to see if it still
happens and if it does not you may have malware or spyware on your computer
and you can try scanning for both in Safe Mode being sure to use the latest
definitions for any program you scan with. I like AdAaware SE for spyware
scanning which is free for personal use. You also can boot into Safe Mode
with networking to access the internet but any software or host firewall
might be bypassed and you that would be an unsafe thing to do if you do not
have an internet router or other device protecting you from the internet.

If it freezes right away in both regular and Safe Mode you may have a
corrupt user profile for that account and hopefully you have another
administrator account you can logon to or at least enough time to create
one. In XP Home you should be able to access the built in administrator
account in Safe Mode which may have a blank password if you have not used it
or changed it since installation. You can use the command net localgroup
administrators to see who all is in the local administrators group and it
may help to look for warning/error messages in the system and application
logs that can be seen via Event Viewer even with the guest account most
likely. --- Steve
