access hidden admin account

G

Guest

For a year I used original administrator account in XP Pro. Recently I had
to make more accounts for new roomates. I was forced to make a new admin
account.

Now all of my files are hidden on the original administrator account and I
cannot access any of my files!

I have tried to load in safe mode or load setup but it does not seem to
work, perhaps due to my adaptec raid card.

Can someone help me access the hidden administrator account so I can
transfer all of my files?

I can see hidden admin acount by running 'control userpasswords2', but cant
seem to get access.

I have checked numerous pages of this forum, but have not seen my problem,
but many other admin type problems.

HELP!

At the logon screen press Ctrl-alt-del-del to bring up the domain style
login screen. Type Administrator for the username and your password for the
old administrator account in the password box.

Additionally:

To enable the Administrator account on the new Windows XP logon screen in Windows XP Pro, visit my web site, www.dougknox.com and go to the Windows XP Utilities section. Follow the link for Enable Administrator Account ......

This small VB application will make the registry change necessary for the Administrator account to be available on the Welcome Screen. If you prefer to do it manually, click Start, Run and enter REGEDIT Navigate to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\SpecialAccounts\UserList\

Note: There is a space between Windows and NT in the above Key.

Add the Administrator account if necessary and/or change the Administrator value to 1

For XP Home, you can only log into the built in Administrator account in Safe Mode, so the fixes above will be of little use.
