Administrator account

My Administrator account is not visible. I can't find where to get the
prompt to login to the account. I expect to see an account called
"Administrator" as opposed to an account with another name with
Administrator rights. Or have I misunderstood...?

On installing XP Pro I entered a password for the "Administrator" account,
and names and passwds for other accounts. I can login to any of those as
required through the welcome screen.

Hello Stephen

Once you have created other users, by default the Administrator account
doesn't appear on the Welcome screen.

To access it in XP Pro, at the Welcome Screen press Ctrl-Alt-Del twice.
In the login box that pops up type Administrator and its password, You
can also get to it when working in Windows by logging off the account
you are using and again pressing Ctrl-Alt-Del twice to get to the login
box.

Hope this helps.

In addition to Nightowl's post use this tweak to add "Administrator" to
the Welcome Screen.

Line 5: Enable/Disable Administrator on Welcome Screen

See the top of the page for info on running the edit.

As you've discovered, once any additional user accounts have been
created, the Administrator account will no longer be displayed on the
Welcome Screen. This is a default security feature. By design, the
only way to log into the Administrator account of WinXP Home is to
reboot into Safe Mode. For WinXP Pro, pressing CTRL+ALT+DEL twice at
the Welcome Screen will produce the standard login dialog box.
