There is a folder called 'Administrator.PC1' under C:\Documents and Settings
in addition to the normal 'Administrator'.

I can see that the former is the one used when I log on as Administrator
(there is no user called Administrator.PC1), but I don't understand why a
new folder has been created with the 'PC1' appended (PC1 is the computer
name).

Anybody help?

How can I return the name to Administrator?

Duplicate profile folders exist under the "Documents and Settings" folder

If you lose Full Control permissions to your profile folder, in the
%SystemDrive%\Documents and Settings folder, Windows 2000 and Windows XP
will create a new one the next time you log on. The new profile is named:

UserName - if the older profile was deleted.

UserName.ComputerName - if the old profile exists.

UserName.ComputerName.000 - if UserName.ComputerName exists.

UserName.ComputerName.001 - if UserName.ComputerName.000 exists.

Thanks Wes.

Bit techy for me, but it worked a treat!

Not sure what was meant by 'grant your UserName Full Control of the original
profile folder, sub-folders, and files', but I must have had this anyway.

Also not clear what might have caused the 'loss of full control permissions'
and the resultant additional folders in the first place. Any ideas?

Any chance you could help with the other related post from yesterday
