I have just set up a system with XP Pro and all the latest service
packs. I set up 2 Admin accounts (Administrator and a backup admin
account) plus several users accounts. Everything was fine last night
but when I rebooted this morning, the administrator account was not
listed on the login screen. Since the backup admin account was there,
I logged in with this account. Under the Documents and Settings
directory, I still find the administrator directory with all it's
files. If I try to recreate the administrator account, XP says it
already exists.

It appears that the account is still there and functional but there
is no way to log in on the login screen

How do I get the administrator account back on the login screen?

This is perfectly normal - when you create another user, the main admin user
disappears from the welcome screen. To access the main administrator account
log off all users and hit C+A+D twice on the welcome screen (as you would to
bring up the Task Manager). This will give you a Windows 2000 style login
box where you can select the main admin user.

The reasons for this are obvious - the main admin user isn't for day-to-day,
but for emergencies when you cannot access any other user. Therefore it's
sensible to keep it passworded and hidden (particularly if you have young
children!)

I would just like to add that cross posting to every Windows XP-related
group is unnecessary. In future, if you really /must/ cross-post, pick one
or two *pertinent* groups and no more.

Where I am, it IS 12/3/2003. In fact, half of the globe is now living in
Dec 3. You'll catch up in a few hours.

Do you have an answer to my question?

I have a similar question - when my windows xp pro boots up into the
Administrator mode - I have to hit log off and then type in the name of my
acct and it goes to my settings - how do I get it to boot up directly into
my acct and not the admin - also ... under users it has 3 accts - Pamela
(which is the one I want it to boot up in) a guesst acct (which I don't need
but guess it can sit there- it says it is off) and an acct that is titled
ASP.NET machine A (limited acct password protected) which I have never set
up and have no idea what it means.

If anyone can explain the asp.net acct or tell me how to boot up directly
into My User acct - I'd appreciate it.

It may be 12/3/03 where you are, but here it is 12/02/03 and when posting in
newsgroups the time of the post will always display in the time/time zone
that the person viewing the message is in. Meaning when I see your post it
will display in my time, which is now 12/02/03. So if your post shows up on
my computer as 12/03/03 then it can only be that your time and/or time zone
setting is off.

Yep, just exactly how it works.

You can use TweakUI from the XP Powertoys to
control what account are and are not displayed on
the Welcome screen, or use direct reg edits for this.

Are you always this up tight towards people?

Guess that is how a LAME MS MVP act, they have to be a bone head. You tell
him about his time (which he explained why it was) and you still will not
answer his question, unless he follows you lame commands.

Don't see the idiot whose younger sister has to read web pages for him and click links for him answering either.

But seeing as you're full of useless advice I'll let you help him. Get your younger sister, cause you'll need her, get her to read this.

He is running non SP1 XP and using SP1 Tweakui.

Look, you moron, *HIS CLOCK IS WRONG!!* He might be ahead, but the viewer's
server corrects the time for *THEIR* time zone. If his clock was set
correctly, it would have appeared correct to Carey. But, as it wasn't, it
didn't.

Now, toddle off...shouldn't you be in school...?

They're not "lame" - having a correctly set clock is good netiquette. And,
if you had a clue about anything (which it's blatantly obvious you don't)
you'd know that the *VIEWER'S* server localises the time for *THEIR* time
zone. Had the OP's clock been set correctly, Carey wouldn't have said
anything. But it wasn't and Carey was perfectly correct to point it out.

Setting your newsclient so people are forced to send you copies their
replies to you is a gross invasion of privacy. I only noticed it because I
use Outlook for mail. Had I been using OE, it would have gone straight to
your inbox. Please remove the CC.

Now, do toddle off, I'm sure there's a grade school missing you
somewhere....

Me suspects that a gremlin has got into carey's computer and fiddled with
the time zone
Cos Kalbo's date looks OK to me, but then so does careys bit if a
mystery that
