I recently got a laptop from my school for free. It is great, however they
made it so you cant have the adnministraitor access which makes it almost
impossible to network correctly, or install nessicary files for my
schoolwork. My teachers and I are trying to find a way to get around the
administrator blocking. Someone told me if you use a Windows Startup disk to
boot to DOS, there is somethign you can do. But they dont know how to do it...

Running Windows XP Pro.

You don't. Is the laptop truly "yours," or is the school just
granting you the temporary use of it? If the latter, and if the school
doesn't want you to have administrative privileges, you'll just have to
make do. If the former, simply use the accompanying installation CD to
reinstall the OS and set it up the way you want.

That's because they were spouting nonsense...

yes the laptop is truely "mine". And I dont want to reinstall the OS cause
the laptop has alot of programs on it that i got only through my school that
they didnt give me the disks for...

And they werent spouting nonsense cause I know for a fact that there are
some programs out there that will reset the administrator password from DOS..
but they are expencive...
