Admin Share problem Win XP

Guest

First - what ports does the admin share command use when issued from a
desktop.?

We have noticed that if we are in the same vlan, then we see the shares as
domain admin. When we go to another vlan, and issue admin share, we are not
able to get to the desktop. We can issue net view and see the desktop name.

I want to see if we have a port forwarding issue in the layer-3 switch.

Thanks

Since you have a domain, I'd bet 445/tcp (Microsoft-DS). You need to verify
though that your domain uses SMBs directly hosted, if not you want to open 137 -
139 tcp/udp.
