I am installing a new Win XP Pro SP2 workstation. As I always do with new
PC installs on our company network, I push a remote control software
(Dameware) and Symantec AntiVirus (corporate edition) to the new PC.
However, both installs are complaining that the network path
\\New-PC\Admin$\System32 is not found on the new PC. Doing the "network
share" command on the new PC however verifies that the share Admin$ does
exist and does point to C:\Windows. Any ideas why this isn't working on
this new Win XP Pro SP2 workstation. This is our 1st SP2 PC; could that
have anything to do with this problem?

"Simple file sharing" might be enabled. Have a look here:

To my surprise, I did find that Simple File Sharing was enabled, even after
joining our local domain. But even after disabling it, I still had the same
problem. Then I stumbled on the Personal Firewall that IS ENABLED by
default with SP2. After disabling that, I was fine.

Thanks for your help!
