admin of network

Hi

I have 4 machines in my home network and i would like to be able to manage
updates for microsoft windows xp and virus updates centrally.

One machine runs xp pro - the others have xp home. How can i find out about
the admin tools available to me in xp pro?

I often need to run down to the basement to fix my other pc - but at work
the system admin people can remotely take control of my desktop and manage
things. Is this available in xp?

Since you have XP Pro on only one machine, your options are limited to
scripting and third party utilities.
Your antivirus applications should be able to be scheduled to update
themselves.
Updates can do the same - but if you want to be more interactive - you can
download and script the install on the other machines.
As far as remote control - for Windows XP Home, you have Remote Assistance
and third party applications - like UltraVNC.
