I have recently upgreaded to xp and have created user
accounts for the kids. Now the admin icon has disappeared
and I need to make changes to the firewall and I cannot
with out logging into the admin account. How do I log
into admin account with out having the admin icon. thanks

Hi Simon,

At the logon screen, hit ctrl+alt+delete twice. You can then access the
admin account by typing it into the older-style logon screen.

You ought to have an account of your own that has Admin status, for use
in day to day administration. But to get at the reserve, emergency
account called Administrator, Boot, hitting F8 as BIOS info goes to
black; take Safe Mode, There will then be an icon for Administrator on
the Welcome screen. (If not, hit CTL-ALT-DEL twice and enter the
explicit name
Administrator
and leave the password blank)

In that, Start - Run the line
control userpasswords2
where you can select any account name, such as your own, take
Properties, and on the Group page move it to be in Other -
Administrators
