Admin account

Anyone know of a way to use the true admin account rather than the one that
says admin but doesn't offer full privilages? I'm trying to delete a Nero
folder that was left from Beta 2 when I tried to install 7.0, but regardless
of what permissions I try to give myself (as a user and as admin), it still
says I don't have privilages to delete it.

Vista security to me is still an enigma. There are user and admin accounts,
but there seems to be a true Admin account beyond user level that runs on
it's own and can't be modified (Think HAL in 2001 A Space Odyssey). And even
though I'm running as an admin, I still can't give full privilages to other
user accounts - very frustrating. They seem to be changed until I click
"Apply", then the check boxes are cleared again.

There must be a way, but I haven't found it (I really haven't put too much
time into research though)

Izn't that rather a glib answer.

Shudnt there be somewhere, a checkbox that gives an admin user admin
previledges as in XP ('true admin account ').

Surely, after all the time and effort, (and money), put into Vista, this
system wide option exists somewhere without the bother of safe mode.

Check the ownership of the files. Try change the owner to your admin or
a user and try again.

I've tried that, but it wouldn't allow it for the same reason I can't delete
it. I also tried sharing, renaming, giving myself additional
privilages...... VERY frustrating. I also turned off UAC.... Nothing works.

You need to take ownership of the folder.

From the Start menu, click All Programs and then expand Accessories.
Right click on “Command Prompt†and click “Run as Administratorâ€.
Click on “Allow†from the Windows Security dialog.
In the Command Prompt window, type “regedit†(without the quotes) and press
Enter.
In the Registry Editor, browse to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon
Add a new key called “SpecialAccounts†(without the quotes).
In the “SpecialAccounts†key you just made, create a sub-key called
“UserList†(without the quotes)
Make sure you are navigated to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows
NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\SpecialAccounts\UserList
In the “UserList†key, create a new DWORD (32-bit) item and name it
Administrator.
Double click on the new DWORD item and set its value to 1.
Close Registry Editor and the Command Prompt.
NOW:
Go to Start/All Programs and right click the command prompt.
Type Control UserPasswords2.
Click Advanced.
Click Advanced again.
Select Users.
Select Administrator and untick the the box “Administrator is disabledâ€
