Adjust Screen Size

I have a new Dell computer (Inspiron B130 15.4" screen), and the screen
size in Windows does not fill the screen. It has one inch margins on both
the left and right, but the screen is full top to bottom. As Windows starts,
the full screen is used, but once Windows is running, there are these margins
on the left and right. In the "dos prompt" the full screen is used. Is
there a way to adjust the screen to fill these blank margins on the sides?
Thanks, fselce

It sounds like you are not running at the native resolution for the
laptop's monitor which is 1280 x 800. Go to the Display applet,
Settings tab and use the slider to set the resolution to 1280 x 800.

I have a Dell PC. With Windows XP. the computer had a virus on it before so,
we got a new hardrive, and installed it. Everything seemed to be okay untill
I realized that I am unable to change my DPI settings, my resalution, or
anything. It wont let me even move the tab to change the monitor settings or
anything. It is messing with certain programs, because it wont allow me to
see them all, or anything. What do I do?
Email; (e-mail address removed)
Thank you!

Make a new post instead of tacking your question onto a thread that is
already closed. That way you'll be sure of getting answers. Do not
include your real, unmunged email address in Usenet or messageboard
posts. It will get picked up by spambots. Here is information about
munging your email address, as well as a link to what details you need
to include in your post so as to get focused answers:

I'll look for your new post.
