Addresses in autocomplete aren't in address book

In outlook 2007 I have several addresses that become available as I
type the recipients address. Presumably these are there because I
have exchanged emails with them before. These contacts don't seem to
appear in any of my address books though and I would like it if they
did. Is there a way I can do this?

Auto-complete is just a convenience. It keeps a cache of your most recently
used email addresses. It is not tied to your contacts at all.

You are correct that your autocompletion cache does not reference your
contacts, but rather remembers those addresses you've used in the past.

Create a new message to one of these addresses (or all of them), but don't
send it. When the addresses resolve (become underlined), right-click each in
turn and choose Add to Contacts.
