'Address' on taskbar

I am getting the word 'Address' on the taskbar to the
left of the hide/unhide botton icon. anyone know why I am
getting this?

Because the ADDRESS toolbar is enabled.

Right-click in the Notification Area (to the right of the hide/unhide
button), click TOOLBARS, and UNcheck ADDRESS.

You've more than likely got an address bar set to be displayed in your
taskbar - it's just too far off to the side to be seen.

You can get rid of it by right-clicking on the taskbar, choosing Toolbars,
and clicking on Address.

ok colour me dumb. But without the address bar how to you type a URL and surf the I-net.

You can put the addressbar on the taskbar and enter URLs
without opening the browser (it will open when you do this).
You can choose to show the addressbar in the browser or hide
it.

You start your browser--IE or whichever you prefer--and type the
URL in *its* address bar.
