Address Cards disappear from Outlook when re-saved

I have many people located in my Contacts in Microsoft Outlook. Though we
ask that they be sorted by last name, not all are. Plus, occasionally when
I've gone in and added a piece of information--like a new e-mail address--and
re-saved and closed the Contact, the next time I look for it, it is gone. It
no longer comes up when I search for it. Some names, also, are saved under
the first name and some under the last, though all have been asked to be
saved to last name. I'm confused: why is Outlook changing where these cards
are saved, and how do I find them again once Outlook makes them disappear?
Thank you for any help--Outlook is driving me crazy!

You suffer from a common and incurable problem. You own Microsoft designed
software. that's the only thing in common that the "suite" of office
products all have.
You think you're alone going crazy? Why do you think the world is in the
state it is?
kids killing kids, suicide bombers, going postal, etc. None of this stuff
was happening before Windows blue screens and MS Office products that
randomly delete data.
Think about it.

Funny. It didn't occur prior to your (or my, for that matter) birth,
either. Should we infer something from that as well?

Hah hah. You're sooooo right! Someday, though, I expect that all computer
programs/applications will work flawlessly together, regardless of who makes
them, but until we are that advanced technologically, I guess we're stuck
with Bill Gates' solution to computer problems.
