A friend of mine says that every time he receives an email the address from
the sender is automaticly entered into his address book unless it is already
there. I can't find any menues which allow you to do this or any to turn it
off if the program is entering the addresses. Thank You

What version of Outlook is he using? Also, does the person get entered into
the address book by simply getting an email or replying to one?

He is using Outlook Express in XP and He says addresses gets entered when he
receives email.

This newsgroup is for support of Outlook 97, 98, 2000, 2002 & 2003 from the
Office family for Intel PCs. For Outlook Express (OE) support try posting in
one of these newsgroups:
microsoft.public.inetexplorer.ie4.outlookexpress for OE 4.x
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie5.outlookexpress for OE 5.
http://support.microsoft.com/newsgr...express&SLCID=US&sd=GN&id=fh;en-us;newsgroups
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie55.outlookexpress for OE 5.5
http://support.microsoft.com/newsgr...express&SLCID=US&sd=GN&id=fh;en-us;newsgroups
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6_outlookexpress for OE 6.
http://support.microsoft.com/newsgr...express&SLCID=US&sd=GN&id=fh;en-us;newsgroups
microsoft.public.internet.mail.mac for the Macintosh version of O
http://support.microsoft.com/newsgr...ess.mac&SLCID=US&sd=GN&id=fh;en-us;newsgroups

If those groups aren't carried on the news server that's carrying this group
try using msnews.microsoft.com (MS's public news server that's the source for
all the microsoft.public newsgroups). The links under the newsgroup
references are for use with MS's web newsreader (not exactly the best way to
post but it works for some people)

Also a good source of Outlook Express info can be found here:

In OE

Is it when he replies to messages, *every* message received, or just
some/most messages ?- some messages ask for a receipt when received so that
may trigger the action too.

for starters try

Tools Options Send, untick automatically add ......

Then look through the other options available for anything applicable to
your situation.

In receipts try setting the never send option too

In addition this is a newsgroup for the Outlook program not Outlook Express-
you'd be better going to a relevant group.
