address book trouble

Cos

Replaced notebook with desktop, moved from Office 2003 to Office 2007.
Copied .pst file to new machine - did not import.
Some address book entries work fine, others do not show any information.
Entries that work ok open the contact property page
Entries that do not work, return and invalid entryid.

Checked the Office 2003 machine - same problem, but the entries worked when
selecting them for new messages...
All entries appear correct in the contact view. no multiples and all
information is viewable.
Not sure where to go with this...
I have deleted the contact file which removed all information in the address
book.
Now I import the addresses and the same thing happens.
New addresses work correctly...

Have a user that was using Outlook 2003, the user now has a new machine with
Outlook 2007.
I copied the users outlook.pst file from Outlook 2003 machine and replaced
the
outlook.pst on the Outlook 2007 machine. I did not import the .pst file
into Outlook 2007. All calendar, messages and contacts are usable and match
what was on the Outlook 2003 machine.
The Address Book is set to use the contacts.
opening the Address Book, some entries are complete some are not.
Or some can show the complete contact information while others return
invalid entryid.
I have deleted all the contacts in the new Outlook 2007 file. and imported
the contacts from original Outlook 2003 machine, with the same results.
I deleted all of the imported contacts and imported contacts from another
2003 user and everything works correctly.
Checking the original Outlook 2003 machine, found the same problem with its
address book.
So the problem appears to be something that happened to the original Outlook
2003 contacts. I suspect that several attempts to import addresses did the
job to the file. It was never reported to me as a problem until I moved the
user to a new machine...

Bad move. This leads to a corrupt mail profile. Never overwrite or replace
a PST.

That's because you corrupted your mail profile.

Never import to or export from a PST. It can corrupt the mail profile and
will lose data.

Create a new mail profile and point it at the PST you wish to use.
