Address Book sort order within the drop-down menu

I posted earlier, but noticed all the subjects identical to mine, yet the issue is totally different. Hopefully the new subject will clarify.

Most users here are using Outlook XP. If you open the Address Book, and then pull down the drop-down menu under "show names from the", you'll see the Global Address List on top, then several hundred Schools and Departments, and at the very bottom you'll see "Outlook Address Book" with Contacts. What users are wanting here is to still have Global Address List as their default address list to be shown, but they don't want to scroll through several hundred GAL listings to get to their contacts. So the question is, how can one "sort" that list in the drop-down menu so that Contacts is right above the GAL? In Outlook 2000, there's a trick where you remove the Exchange service, restart Outlook, and Outlook will put the GAL under the Contacts. In Outlook 2003, it appears that Contacts is at the top of the list when a new profile is created. Any idea if this is possible with Outlook XP?

Can't you just do that in Tools > Options in the Address Book?

No, what Tools > Options does is let you decide which address list to open when you open the address book. It also lets you decide on which address list to resolve names from first, second, etc. What it doesn't let you do is sort the drop-down menu for "show names from the:". This is the problem that my organization is having after adding a few hundred departments across the University. So in the drop-down menu, GAL is up top and after scrolling through a few hundred department names you'll find "Outlook Address Book - Contacts" at the very bottom. We need a way to get OAB up to the top. Yes, our clients can choose which address list to open by default, but if they want to open a different one, they must scroll through the monstrous list (which is where we're hearing all the complaints). Any ideas

No. There is no way to do that from within the Outlook Address Book
interface. All you can configure there is which Folder to show first. You
should be asking in an Exchange group for other options.
