Address Book & Public Folders

Could someone please offer some tech assistance???

Our office uses Windows 2000, Outlook 2002 & Exchange 2000.
We have a large amount of public folders too. He is the
situation: We have public folders that were named the same
name as our users, first and last name. This was getting
confusing, for when you are typing a name in outlook,
sometimes a user would accidently send email to the pub
folder, instead of the actual person because the names are
resolved in the global address book identically, one
showing a "user icon" and one showing the "pub folder
icon". Then autocomplete in Outlook would show 2 of the
same names. So you can see the confusion now.

I renamed the pub folders as first last initial to avoid
the confusion in the address book. I then noticed that the
names in the address book were still there, one for the
user email and one for the pub folder. It did not change
to reflect the renaming of the pub folders to first and
last initial.

The only way I found to update the address book after
renaming the folder is to right click the folder in
system manager, goto general tab, and check the "use this
name" radio button, and add the first and last initial
there. Now the global address book reflects the changes.
I then noticed that if I renamed the folder to something
else under the "use this name" field, then renamed it back
to the first and last initial, the first and last initial
folder name will not show up in the address book anymore.
Like it is erased or no longer able to be used?????

Does anyone know why this is? What is causing it?
and, How can the address book syncronize to the pub folder
names?

I appreciate your help!!
